Tiny player for music pro#
The little device can displays album artwork and I was able to copy my entire iTunes music library from my MacBook Pro to a MicroSD card, and once I’d slipped the card into the player and scanned the music files I was ready to go. Selecting the My Music icon gives access to all the usual choices of Songs, Albums, Genres, Favorites etc, much like any other music player. The screen is fairly responsive although I found it occasionally required a few taps to get it to respond.

Holding in the power switch for a few seconds, reveals a set of commands including Now Playing, My Music, a folder explorer, playback settings and general settings. On the left of the device, there’s a little rubber cover that can be pulled to one side to reveal a slot that can take a MicroSD card with a capacity up to 512GB, which is a serious amount of music storage. Alongside to the USB port, there’s a standard 3.5mm stereo jack socket for headphones with an impedance ranging from 8 – 300Ω.
Tiny player for music driver#
On the bottom of this miniature music player there’s a USB C port that’s used to charge the battery and also can also be used to transfer music files to the device or it can even be set up to work as an external DAC if you download the appropriate driver from Shanling’s website. The front and back views of the Shanling M0 shows how neat and stylish the design is.

There’s a power button on the right-hand side of the device that starts up the M0 and it also doubles as a volume control, working very much like a watch winder. Shanling has developed its own mini operating system called MTouch, which uses a combination of swipes and taps to move around and screens and selects the options on offer. The screen is a brightly colored square that’s also touch sensitive. It takes a couple of hours to fully charge the battery from empty and then the MO is good for up to 15 hours of playing time. Like many rechargeable electronic devices these days, the Shanling M0 uses USB C connection to charge its built-in lithium-ion battery. The M0 even supports aptX, AAC and LDAC Bluetooth codecs and has an ESS Sabre ES9218P DAC at its heart, which explains why it sounds pretty good. It stores files on MicroSD cards and can handle card sizes up to 512GB. This amazing little player sports a color touchscreen measuring 1.5-inches and with a resolution of 240x240 pixels. It’s available in black, red, blue, titanium and violet finishes, and can handle just about any format of music files, including DSD. The Shanling M0 is a tiny little music player weighing a mere 33g and made from aluminum and smaller than a box of matches.
